Meal Planning Monday

I found a new website to get healthy recipes from, so we're going to give some new recipes a try this week. What's for dinner?

Monday: Crockpot Roast with Potatoes and Carrots

Tuesday
: Pollo Sabroso

Wednesday
: Shrimp and Avocado Quesadillas

Thursday
: Spaghetti and Meatballs

Friday
: Date Night!!! The Melting Pot, at home! We got a real fondue pot for our wedding, and we love The Melting Pot. It is just so expensive! I found a copy cat recipe online that I'm going to try for their broth. We will have shrimp, chicken, and steak. I'm excited!!!

(I tried to post the links for the recipes, but it kept freaking out on me. If you want one of the recipes above just leave a comment and I will post it below.)

A Female!

I've had flowers on my plant for about 2 weeks now, but no veggies. I looked online to see what was going on. I just love the internet! I found that if there are no veggies then your female flowers aren't getting pollinated by the male flowers. (The flowers are on my balcony at the apartment, so there aren't any bees to pollinate) The website recommended taking a q-tip and rubbing the male flower then rubbing the pollen on the female flower. Well all my flowers looked the same so I was like how do you tell female from male. This morning I went out to "pollinate" my flowers and this is what I found.

This is my new flower. All of my flowers have looked like the one below, so this is my first female :) Sorry it's a little blurry. See the inside how there are 4 little stems.

Online it kept showing the female with the 4 stems like above, but I wasn't seeing those on mine. I thought oh maybe it's under the pollen or something. This one just has a single fat stem covered by pollen. The website also said look for the swelling under the flower for the "ovary" part and I have that too!

See that bulge behind the flower. WOOHOO!!!! I should have a little vegetable soon. Then I will be able to tell if this is my squash or zucchini plant haha.

I've Got Flowers!!!

I have flowers on my squash or zucchini plants. There are some more blooms under the leaves that you can't see in the picture or that have already opened and now shriveled up. I moved the plants around a few times on the balcony, and I don't remember which plant is what. Both the squash and zucchini plants look pretty similar. These leaves are a little wider than the other. My zucchini plants started growing first, so I'm thinking they might be the zucchini. The other plants have buds and should be blooming by tomorrow. I can't wait until I have some veggies :)

Royals Game

Eric and I went to a Royals Game for my birthday 2 weeks ago. Eric hadn't been to Kauffman Stadium yet, so this was another stadium checked off our list. :) We had a lot of fun, but decided these games are a lot like the minor league games we use to go to back in Dallas. There is just so much entertainment. Not many people are actually watching the game. The couple right next to us kept getting up every single inning. There is even a Ferris Wheel, Gaming Center to play baseball, and Putt Putt back behind outfield. REALLY? None of this was at Wrigley Field that's for sure.

Here are a few pictures from our fun date!

As you can tell, not too many people are at the game even though it's a Friday night game.

This was Eric's idea now that I'm an Adcock! haha
In the hall of fame they had a lot of stuff on George Brett. Here is the infamous pine tar bat.

This was all out of baseballs. The pine tar on this bat was a lot higher than the previous bat.

Coupons

I tried to give coupons a shot this past weekend with my grocery shopping. I was pretty excited for my first time. I ended up saving $29.50 with the coupons. I have a friend from highschool who is a pro! I want to figure out how to use the CVS extracare bucks to save there. Here is what I did.

First I got online to look up the specials at the local grocery store. Then I decided to figure out my meal plan off of the meats on sell. That was an idea given to me from a friend at church. Then I got on www.hip2save.com website to clip coupons. Here are a few big ones I got off the specials and coupons.

2/$3 Prego Sauce plus free box of pasta
Buy One Get One Men's Deodorant for free
Nature Valley Granola Bars on sale plus a coupon!
Eggs on sale plus a coupon at the store!

It took some time Saturday evening to figure it out, but it was worth the money it saved me. :)

If you have any coupon advice leave below. Do you have any websites you use?

The Garden

Here is a garden update. The squash and zucchini plants are HUGE! No veggies yet, but we're not giving up. The tomatoes are growing too but not quite large enough for tomatoes. Basil and Cilantro look great; I think I can pick them soon. The oregano died on me :( The bell peppers finally started growing, so we transplanted one into it's own pot. We need to get a few more pots for a few more bell peppers. We haven't planted the strawberry seeds yet, but maybe we can do that today. I have definitely found me a new hobbie!
