26 Weeks

how far along? 26 Weeks, Wednesday 4/25/2012
how are you measuring? We have an appointment on Friday, so I will get an update
size of baby?
Eggplant, 15 in (head to foot) 2.2 lbs
heartbeat? 143
total weight gain/loss? + 18.5 lbs (EEEK!!!)
maternity clothes? Yep all the way.  I can still wear a pair of pre-pregnancy jeans since they sit low.
stretch marks? Nope. Hoping it stays that way.
sleep?
I haven't been sleeping all that great.  Just waking up multiple times through out the night and then having a hard time falling asleep.

best moment this week? Eric getting to feel the little one move.  Monday night the little one was so active and Eric got so many kicks.  To see his face light up feeling the little one move is priceless.  It makes me so excited to see him as a dad.
movement? All the time. The little one is most active in the evenings about 30 minutes-1 hour following dinner.
food cravings? I haven't really had a true craving like oh my gosh I want this now kind of craving.  Oh well!
gender predictions? I think girl.
what i miss:
Not getting out of breath after walking up a few flights of stairs.  Man I get winded.

what i'm looking forward to: Putting the crib together.  Eric doesn't want to put it together yet because then it will just sit there for another 14 weeks.  We have picked out the bedding yet have not purchased it.  I'm starting to get the itch to get things in order.
how are you feeling? Feeling great! This week I started having some Braxton Hicks contractions.  Nothing serious.  I've had maybe 2-3 a day.  They don't hurt at all.  My tummy just all of a sudden gets rock hard.
Development this week: Today starts week 27 of development.  The little one graduates onto a new growth chart this week, measuring from head to toe.  The baby has more taste buds now than he or she will have at birth.  He or she may actually react to different foods.  (According to What to Expect When You're Expecting)

25 Weeks

how far along? 25 Weeks, Wednesday 4/18/2012
how are you measuring? We have an appointment on Friday, so I will get an update
size of baby?
Eggplant, 9.2 in 2 lbs
heartbeat? appointment on Friday
total weight gain/loss? + 17.5 lbs (EEEK!!!)
maternity clothes? Yep all the way. My workout shorts are starting to get a little tight! YIKES!
stretch marks? Nope. Hoping it stays that way.
sleep?
I've been a little restless the past few nights. It seems like when I move or readjust then I will get a little squirming from the baby too. It hasn't been awful though.
best moment this week? We went to our first baseball game of the season. The little one "experienced" their first baseball game. He or she was squirming like crazy during the game too. Hoping the little one will enjoy baseball as much as we do.
movement? All the time. More and more each day. It still takes me by surprise and I love feeling the little one :)
food cravings? Sweets! But that's all the time haha
gender predictions? I think girl. I think she was being shy and not wanting to show us the girly parts.
what i miss:
Margaritas!!! I am by no means a drinker, but I do enjoy a margarita from time to time with our Mexican food. YUM!
what i'm looking forward to: We have a doctor's appointment on Friday. WOOHOO!!!
how are you feeling? Feeling great! I'm getting super excited to think that we just have 15 weeks left. WOW!
Development this week: Today starts week 26 of development. The little ones eyes are beginning to open. The eyelids have been fused for the past few months so the retina could develop. The colored part of the eye still doesn't have much pigmentation, so it's too early to start guessing the baby's eye color. The little one is able to see. With the heightened sense of sight and hearing, the baby may increase in activity when the baby sees a bright light or hears a loud noise. (According to What to Expect When You're Expecting)

What's Cookin in the Kitchen

So I'm wanting to try and cook every night this week. Then we will eat out Saturday and Sunday nights for our date nights. I'm also going to try and do a little cleaning every night, so our weekends aren't filled with cleaning. If we get into the routine of doing one cleaning chore a day then it won't be so overwhelming once the little one gets here. (that's my hope atleast) I'll let you know how it goes.

Monday Mop Day

Tuesday: Homemade Pizza
Tuesday Tub Day (bathroom in general)

Wednesday: Au Jus Sandwiches in the Crockpot

how far along? 24 Weeks, Wednesday 4/11/2012
how are you measuring? 23 weeks 6 days (The ultrasound on 3/19 showed the baby was measuring 1 day behind)
size of baby?
Eggplant, 9 in 1.7 lbs
heartbeat? 153
total weight gain/loss? + 17 lbs (EEEK!!!)
maternity clothes? Yep all the way. My workout shorts are starting to get a little tight! YIKES!
stretch marks? Nope. Hoping it stays that way.
sleep?
I feel like I've been getting some pretty decent sleep lately. It's been nice, but I know that will be changing the bigger I get.
best moment this week? This week marks viability!!! The baby's lungs are producing surfactant. WOOHOO!!!!
movement? All the time. It still takes me by surprise and I love feeling the little one :)
food cravings? Sweets! Oh man have I got a sweet tooth. :/
gender predictions? I think girl. I think she was being shy and not wanting to show us the girly parts.
what i miss:
My workouts Eric and I were doing last summer and fall.
what i'm looking forward to: To start getting stuff ready for the little one. I want to go buy the bedding so bad!
how are you feeling? Feeling great!
Development this week: Today starts week 25 of development. The baby is growing by leaps and bounds, reaching 9 inches in length and more than 1 1/2 pounds in weight. Capillaries are forming under the skin and filling with blood. By the end of this week, the air sacs in the lungs will be developed getting ready for the first breath of fresh air. The lungs aren't ready for breathing yet. The lungs are developing surfactant, a substance that will help the lungs expand after birth. The nostrils are starting to open up this week allowing the baby to practice breathing. The vocal cords are now functioning leading to occasional hiccups. 23 Weeks

how far along? 23 weeks, Wednesday 4/4/2012
how are you measuring? 22 weeks 6 days (The ultrasound on 3/19 showed the baby was measuring 1 day behind)
size of baby?
Ear of Corn, 8.5in 1.5 lbs
heartbeat? 153
total weight gain/loss? + 15 lbs
maternity clothes? Yep all the way. Love them :) I am finally to the point where patients are asking me when the little one is due. It's so exciting!
stretch marks? Nope. Still using Burt's Bees Mama Bee Belly Butter. My belly button is completely flat. Then there is the nub that just sticks out haha. I had somewhat of an outtie belly button before I was pregnant.
sleep?
I'm back to getting up once in the middle of the night to use the restroom. I've been sleeping with a pillow between my knees which has been awesome. Makes me a lot more comfortable.
best moment this week? Eric has been feeling the baby move everyday. It is so fun that he finally gets to feel the baby.
movement? Yes all the time. I wonder when this baby sleeps. The baby did have the hiccups this morning or I think they were the hiccups. It was pretty rhythmic and I felt it in the exact same spot every couple of seconds.
food cravings? Sweets! Oh man have I got a sweet tooth. :/
gender predictions? I think girl.
what i miss:
Being able to run 5-6 miles. I'm really looking forward to lots of running after the little one gets here. I was really enjoying all the running I was doing in the fall.
what i'm looking forward to: To start getting stuff ready for the little one. We have been waiting on putting the crib together until after the 24 week appointment. 24 weeks marks viability, meaning the little one can survive outside of my tummy.
how are you feeling? Feeling great!
Development this week: Today starts week 24 of development. The baby gained about 6 ounces this week much of it coming from accumulating baby fat and the growing bones, organs and muscles. The baby's tiny face is almost fully formed and adorable with a full set of eyelashes and eyebrows and a good sprinkling of hair on that head. The hair is snow white right now, as there is no pigment in the hair just yet. (According to What to Expect When You're Expecting)

Call Me a Fisherman

I was out of town two weeks ago for a medical conference, and then this past week was pretty busy for me. I spent all day Saturday at a pediatric's conference. With my busy schedule, Eric and I didn't get to spend too much time together. We decided to get up early this morning and go fishing. We both love fishing and just spending that quality time together laughing, getting frustrated together and having fun.

We got up at 7 this morning. We told ourselves if we're not having any luck we will come back in time for the 11 o'clock service, but if we are catching quite a bit then we will go to the 5 o'clock service. I'm happy to say we went to the 5 o'clock service :)

So we get out there at about 8:30 and are getting all of our stuff set up. Then two guys join us in our little cove. I'm talking standing 3 feet to the right of me. This made us both pretty upset. Then they catch a bass within the first 10 minutes. It definitely was not the size of a keeper, but they took it up to their truck to keep. hmmm... Plus Eric and I both lost a float so we were pretty frustrated.

So we left that site and went over by the boat ramp. I think I lost another float right from the start. UGH! Eric was the first to catch a fish. He only had his line out for maybe 10 minutes and caught the first crappie. WOOHOO!!!! Looks like we might have found a good little fishing hole. We ended up keeping a total of 8 with the largest one being 12 1/2 inches (Eric caught that one). I caught 3 keepers. There were also maybe 5 that weren't large enough to keep that we threw back.

We had a great time fishing, and it made for a great lunch. Fried crappie, hushpuppies, and red potatoes with onions. YUMMY!!! Thanks for a great day of fishing!
