30 Weeks

how far along? 30 Weeks, Wednesday 5/23/2012  (only 10 weeks to go!!!)

how are you measuring? 31 cm :)
size of baby? head of lettuce, 18 in. 3.2 lbs

heartbeat? 145
total weight gain/loss? 24 lbs
maternity clothes? Yep.  I even had to buy a bigger bra this last week.  One of the MANY perks of pregnancy. :)
stretch marks? Nope.
sleep?
I've been sleeping a little better this week.  I think I've finally figured out what position is the most comfortable.

best moment this week? We finished our birthing class this past Saturday.  After having those completed, it just seems so real.  Nothing will ever fully prepare us for labor, but the classes helped a bit.
movement? My favorite time of the day is kick counts.  It is so fun.  I have an app on my phone.  I am suppose to get 10 kicks within a 2 hour period.  I do them usually around 8:00 pm.  Currently the record is 10 kicks in 1 minute 13 seconds.
food cravings? SMORES, I think that's only because we have gone camping the past 2 weekends haha

gender predictions? I'm still thinking girl.  A lot of the women at school think girl because of how I'm carrying.  Only 10 weeks until we will know.
what i miss: My selection of clothes to choose from.  I feel like I wear the same thing all the time.

what i'm looking forward to: This weekend we do not have anything planned which is a nice change of pace from these last few weeks.  I'm excited to have just the weekend to ourselves.  We will hopefully get the bedroom closet cleaned out to make room for baby stuff.
how are you feeling? Feeling pretty good still.  I have started doing some stretches/exercises in the evening to help prepare.  I'm starting to get anxious and excited as well.  I have started thinking about our birth plan and what we would like for our experience to be like.  We are keeping a very open mind without too many requests since this little one has a mind of its own.

Development this week: Today starts week 31 of development.  Even though the little one still has 3-5 pounds to gain before delivery, he/she is weighing in at an impressive 3-plus pounds this week.  At 18 inches long (give or take), the baby is quickly approaching his or her birth length.  Also developing at an impressive clip these days: the baby's brain connections.  He or she is able to put that complex web of brain connections to good use too-processing information, tracking light, and perceiving signals from all five senses.  Your brainy baby is also a sleepy one, putting in longer stretches of snooze time, specifically in REM sleep-which is why you're probably noticing more defined patterns of awake and sleeping times.   (According to What to Expect When You're Expecting)

29 Weeks

how far along? 29 Weeks, Wednesday 5/16/2012

how are you measuring? 1 week ahead based on fundus height :)
size of baby? Butternut Squash, 17 in 3.1 lbs

heartbeat? 140's
total weight gain/loss? 22.5 lbs (I keep telling myself it's all for the baby)
maternity clothes? Yep.  I wish I had more dresses to wear to work because they are so much more comfortable.
stretch marks? Nope. Around my belly button looks suspicious for the start of some but not quite sure.  YIKES!
sleep?
I still wake up like clock work around 2:00 am to go to the bathroom.  The other night I was tossing and turning for about 45 minutes.  I just could not get comfortable.  I love sleeping on my tummy and that just is not an option anymore.  I decided to get up and go lay on the couch since it always seems I fall asleep on the couch before bed anyways.  Well I was out!  I woke up and it was 4:00 am.  I don't think I budged once.  Our couch is pretty comfy but I also think it helped having the back of the couch to lean against.

best moment this week?  Celebrating my first mother's day.  Some people say I'm not a mother yet because the baby isn't here.  Well Eric made the comment that I have been taking care of this little baby since the moment we found out I was pregnant.  He felt like that in itself qualifies me for being a mother.  He grilled steaks Sunday night for dinner and prepared dinner all by himself.  He also sent me off for a mani-pedi which was so relaxing. :)
movement? I started doing my "kick-counts" this week.  My doctor said now that I am past 28 weeks it's time to keep track.  So every evening when the baby is the most active I lay on the couch and I should feel some type of movement 10x within 2 hours.  One of my pregnancy apps has a kick-counter that keeps track of the time it takes to get the 10 kicks.  It's been so fun.  It's almost as if baby is trying to beat its current time.  The fastest I've felt 10 kicks/movements has been 1 minute and 12 seconds.
food cravings? Nothing really this week.

gender predictions? I think girl.
what i miss: Exercise.  Eric and I went to the park last night just
to walk and it was somewhat depressing how winded I got just from our little walk.  Man am I ready to get back to running.
what i'm looking forward to: We are going camping Saturday with some friends from my school.  So excited to hang out with friends away from it all :)
how are you feeling? I am starting to feel the third trimester fatigue.  Man I am just so tired after doing the littlest things, ie. grocery shopping.  I'm also starting to get uncomfortable at times like when I have to bend over and pick stuff up off the ground.  My belly sure gets in the way.

Development this week: Today starts week 30 of development.  That means there are only 10 more weeks of development left.  WOOHOO!  What's 17 inches long and just over 3 pounds in weight?  The baby!!!  Also, baby's brain is getting bigger daily which is preparing for life outside the womb and for a lifetime of learning.  Starting this week, the brain is starting to look like one with grooves and indentations.  These wrinkles allow for future expansion of brain tissue that is crucial transitioning from the helpless newborn to responsive infant to verbal toddler to curious preschooler and beyond.  The bigger and better brain is also starting to take on tasks previously delegated to other parts of the body, like temperature regulation.  Now that the brain is capable of turning up the heat (with the help of that growing supply of baby fat), the baby will start shedding lanugo, the downy soft body hair that has been keeping him/her warm up to this point.    (According to What to Expect When You're Expecting)

28 Weeks

how far along? 28 Weeks, Wednesday 5/9/2012

how are you measuring? Right on track :)
size of baby? small cabbage, 17 in 2.9 lbs

heartbeat? 140's
total weight gain/loss? 21 lbs (yikes!!! )
maternity clothes? I think it is time for me to put away my one pair of pre-pregnancy jeans I have been holding on to.  I wore them this weekend and they were feeling somewhat snug.  I do however love sun dresses and free-flowing skirts.  Old Navy and Target have some cute ones, so I might just have to go shopping :)
stretch marks? Nope.
sleep?
I've been having some trouble getting comfortable right when I lay down for bed.  I usually toss and turn for 15 minutes or so and then I am out.  This week started back the nightly bathroom trips.  It's usually around 2:00 am that I wake up to go to the restroom.  Then after I get back to bed, I just lay there wide awake.

best moment this week? I received my first Mother's Day card in the mail this week.  Oh so sweet!  It's still crazy to think that I am going to be a momma in 12 weeks, give or take.
movement? This little one never slows down.  I am starting to get the arms and legs rolling across my belly which is so funny.  My belly will just move like a wave.  This week also started with the something hard bulging out and it's definitely a body part.  Then when I ever so gently press on it, it moves. haha
food cravings? Sweet Tea.  I have been on a sweet tea kick.  YUMMY!

gender predictions? I think girl.  So I posted a picture on the pregnancy message board I post on of my belly to get their predictions.  Most of them think it's a girl based on how I'm carrying high.  We will see in 12 short weeks.
what i miss: Being able to laugh or sneeze without having to think about squeezing so I don't pee haha

what i'm looking forward to: Putting the crib together.  I think it will get assembled this week!  Also, we now start the every other week doctor's appointments.  I also scheduled our appointment with a potential pediatrician this week.  The pediatrician here at school recommended her.  We will be meeting with her June 7th.  So excited!!!
how are you feeling? Feeling pretty good.  I've noticed lately I will get in a laughing fit where I just can't stop laughing.  It's usually something Eric has done or said that gets me laughing in the first place.  I think the hormones have something to do with the actual laughing fit though.  I'm starting to get to the point where my belly gets in the way at times, for example bending down to pick stuff up off the floor.  I feel like I have to bend down a certain way haha.
Funny story!  Lastnight we got home from meeting some friends for dinner, and Yeah-Yeah left us a nice little present in the corner.  I picked it up and flushed it.  I told Eric, I'm not sure how much longer I will be able to pick poop up off the floor.  He preceded to tell me well there are plenty of ways to bend down and pick things up and demonstrated a few for me.  He then stood in a straddle and said you can do the splits too (well I can't quite get that low but I bet you can).  I then started to do the middle splits to reach the ground.  He started freaking out and said don't do that with the baby, it might fall out.  So here I am sitting in a somewhat split laughing and then I feel like I'm about to pee myself from laughing.  He helps me get out of the splits because I am stuck and I am laying on my back with my legs crossed trying to hold it in and laughing so hard.  haha yep oh the joys of pregnancy.

Development this week: Today starts week 29 of development.    The little one can be as tall as 17 inches now and weigh almost 3 pounds (with Eric and I being smaller people I highly doubt our little one is quite that big).  Although pretty close to his/her ultimate birth length, within 3 inches or so, baby still has lots to gain.  Over the next 11 weeks, the little one will more than double in weight.  Most of that weight will come from the fat accumulating under his/her skin right now.  As the little one plumps up, the room in the womb will start to feel a little cramped, making it less likely that you'll feel hard kicks and more likely to feel jabs and pokes from elbows and knees.  (According to What to Expect When You're Expecting)
Drinking my glucose drink. haha
Notice my belly button is poking out haha!

The Adcock Garden

So I got a little late start on my garden this year. Instead of growing from seeds, I cheated and bought the small plants. We have a habanero pepper, two jalapeƱo pepper, and cayenne pepper plants. Last night I decided we need some flowers, so I fixed up our hanging basket as well as a giant pot full of flowers. I feel it just makes the patio look a little more homey. I can't wait until we have an actual house that I can't plant flowers in a flower bed.

Nesting

We have less than 13 weeks to go and nesting has started to set in. This weekend was a hardcore cleaning weekend which consisted of mopping, scrubbing the base boards, cleaning out the front closet, and taking the tags off all of the baby toys. The toys then got placed in the basket in the living room.

Tonight I washed all of the baby clothes. They are oh so tiny and cute!!!

We have 13 gender neutral newborn/0-3 month onesies. Plus we have 5 newborn sleepers. Then we have a few 6 month items. So excited for Baby Adcock to get here!!!

27 Weeks

how far along? 27 Weeks, Wednesday 5/2/2012
how are you measuring? I was 26 cm at my 25 week appointment
size of baby?
Head of Cauliflower, 16 in (head to foot) 2.5 lbs
heartbeat? 143 (from last appointment)
total weight gain/loss? + 19.5 lbs (EEEK!!!)
maternity clothes? Yep all the way.  I can still wear a pair of pre-pregnancy jeans since they sit low.  I'm having to wear Eric's t-shirts for around the house as my smalls show my belly :(
stretch marks? Nope. Hoping it stays that way.
sleep?
I've been sleeping better this week.  Starting to get exhausted a little easier during the day though depending on my activity.  I've been going to bed early again. :(

best moment this week? The baby bedding came in yesterday.  WOOHOO!!!
movement? All the time. When we wake up in the morning Eric always asks how the baby slept.  This morning Eric placed his hand on my belly and the baby kicked which is so fun.  What a great way to start off the day.  Then about 30 minutes after dinner is when the little one is the most active which is a great way to end the day.
I did have my first panic yesterday.  I wasn't feeling the baby move in the morning, so I drank some orange juice and laid on my left side for about 30 minutes.  I still wasn't feeling the baby.  I decided I was going to shower and get ready, and if I hadn't felt any movement by the time I was ready to leave I was going to call the doctor.  Right after I got up from laying down, I felt a kick.  WOOHOO!  Then last night we went fishing and the little one was squirming all around and super active lastnight.  He/she was just being sluggish yesterday.food cravings? Anything not healthy haha.
gender predictions? I think girl.
what i miss:
Not looking huge haha.
what i'm looking forward to: Putting the crib together.  Eric doesn't want to put it together yet because then it will just sit there for another 14 weeks.  We have picked out the bedding yet have not purchased it.  I'm starting to get the itch to get things in order.
how are you feeling? Feeling pretty good.
Development this week: Today starts week 28 of development.  Hello third trimester!!! All of the tricks include blinking, coughing, sucking, hiccupping and practice breaths.  Baby may be dreaming about us too, courtesy of the Rapid Eye Movement sleep.  The lungs are nearly fully mature by now, the baby still has a lot of growing to do.  (According to What to Expect When You're Expecting)
